The location of An Định Palace, Huế was chosen to organize a space to display áo dài and some specialties of Huế, in order to introduce and identify the ancient Huế. The exhibition space is set in a palace context with the interference of East-West civilization, with the desire to help visitors and the community better understand the values of traditional heritage.

As part of the series of events of the 14th International Conference “Connecting Vietnam”, on the evening of August 1, at An Dinh Palace (Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hue City), Engaging With Vietnam Organization, Department of Culture and Thua Thien Hue Sports and Arts University (Hue University) and a number of units conducted the opening of a space to display traditional ao dai, accompanying accessories as well as famous Hue fine arts products.

This is part of the 14th International Workshop “Connecting Vietnam” organized by the Organization Engaging With Vietnam in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Thuy Thiên Huế, the University of Arts (University of Huế) and several units, domestic and international enterprises organized in Huế City, in order to introduce visitors, the public and the exchange between experts, researchers and designers and artisans.
At the ancient space of An Dinh Palace, the Organizing Committee introduced to visitors and the public nearly 20 booths displaying Hue’s traditional ao dai by designers and accessories accompanying ao dai. art booths such as Truc Chi Vietnam, Hue Phap Lam, Zen weaving, Hue conical hats… with many diverse and beautiful designs in front of the reception and enjoyment of researchers, experts in and abroad to attend this conference.

Through the space of An Dinh Palace, the Organizing Committee not only wants to promote the beauty and heritage value of a Nguyen Dynasty palace, with the cultural interference between East-West civilization, but also to introduce to the public. Visitors and delegates have the opportunity to learn and experience the famous Ao Dai and handicrafts and handicrafts of Hue.
Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue said: “We chose An Dinh Palace to organize an exhibition space about Ao Dai and some Hue specialties as an introduction, The identity of ancient Hue is placed in a palace context with the interference of East-West civilization, with the desire for delegates, visitors and the community to better recognize the values of traditional heritage in new context”.

Prof. Dr. Phan Le Ha – founder of Engaging with Vietnam emphasized: “One of the things we want to do is create a space that can be an academic space, an art space for us to come and connect with each other. We all come, learn from each other and maybe become friends to spread the fire, continue to spread our passion and love for knowledge connection.”
The exhibition space of Ao Dai at An Dinh Palace is open until the end of August 6.

In the evening of the same day, at Lieu Quan Buddhist Cultural Center (15A Le Loi, Hue City), the 14th Conference “Connecting Vietnam” was organized in collaboration with the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha. In the southern province of Thừa Thiên Huế, the exhibition “Thần Kinh Nhị Thập Cảnh – thơ vua Thiệu Trị qua thư pháp Truyền thừa of Taiwan” opened.

The exhibition introduced to the public 53 calligraphic letters with many different types such as Triện thư, Lệ thư, Chân thư, Hành thư, Thảo thư…etc., which were created by artists and calligraphy researchers from the Taiwan Traditional Calligraphy Association recreated from 20 tame poems of King Thiệu Trị in the collection of poems “Thần Kinh Nhị Thập Cảnh”.
Those are 20 famous beautiful scenes in Huế Citadel, of which 7 are natural and 13 are man-made; At the same time are poems recording the inspiration of King Thiệu Trị before the charming natural scenery of the nervous place.
These are calligraphic letters by artists, calligraphy researchers of the Taiwan Traditional Calligraphy Association reproduced, for exhibition and display for the public to enjoy.

According to the Organizing Committee, through the exhibition, it helps to spread Vietnamese cultural values in the international cultural integration roadmap, as well as affirming the stature of the global heritage values that the Hue Citadel’s cultural heritage is hiding.
The exhibition runs until the end of August 10, 2023.
